Never Thought It Would Be Me

didn't ask to be homeless,
I was such a mess,
Had nowhere to go,
My family had enough of
My drug addiction and lies,
I felt so alone.
My kids were taken away,
After I was thrown out of my home,
I roamed the streets at night,
And slept in parks, abandoned
Cars or houses whenever I could,
Took bird baths at public restrooms.
After ten months I got arrested
And sought help,
I was only twenty one.
I have been clean over twelve years now,
But I had a taste of how it was,
Each person has a different situation,
Have you ever thought about the homeless,
How they got there?
Why they don't ask for help?
